Head drawing

This is the portrait from Tuesday class....it came out nice..but it was H A R D!!!!
The model is nice guy, funny in his own way, constantly moving...and probably modelling is not the right thing for him!! He cannot stay still for more than 2 min!
Anyway...he liked my drawing and in the end he took a pict of it!!

Happy Thursday friends!! I have just finished to clean the house and I am about to move to the garden for a nice painting session:)

Sunflower with Blue scarf

I bought new sunflowers at Trader's few days ago with the idea of painting them.
Yesterday I set up this still life outside, adding my favourite scarf at the bottle! I bought it ages ago back in Italy , in my hometown ( Faenza) at the Saturday market. Sweet memories!!!
I find this painting super sweet!

It has a really cool effect!

Playing around with Poppies

Hello everyone!
I had a couple of days off from painting, I am sure you don t mind!
We have some friends  staying with us at the moment,  so I was try to keep the house clean and decent!! keeping my hands off colors of course!
But 2 days without painting is more than enough for me:)
I was feeling like experimenting and playing around a bit, so here you are: poppies !
I used modeline paste to add texture and if you zoom you can spot a bit of collage in the background..can u see it ?

Friday...cloudy, windy and pretty cold today :( too bad!!!!
But the highlights of the day is that I ll have my husband back home!
Finally!! After a very hard week of studies (and parties!!)
This is one I posted is a watercolor I did some time ago, sweet and simple :)
No time to paint today, sorry!! Busy with some other stuff , but I ll make in the weekend!

Espresso please!

This is my painting of today, a cup of nice creamy Italian espresso 20x25 cm oil on canvas.
It was actually a very hard subject to do, I think I will have to paint this subject a couple of more times before getting to a result I TOTALLY LIKE.
The same as I did with the pears, I love my last pair.
It took me my whole afternoon to paint this cup!!! Of course at the end of the day the coffee looked pretty disgusting and it ended up in the sink :)
Taking the doggie for a run and then I have a nice relaxing evening of ironing ahead :)

Figure drawing

 These are some of the drawing from yesterday class, poses of 2/5/10 min.
The model was really good, doing a lot of interesting and challenging poses.
Unfortunately this was the last class for this quarter butthe course will start again in September.
I am extremely happy with the improvement done during this class...I am actually very happy with myself :) still a lot of work to do of course but i can see that practice is the secret.

 Hello! This is me at work :) Tuesday during my favourite class: portrait of course!
I draw this model many times but this one was the first time from this shadowy side, I am very pleased with the final result!

Poppies

 Our neighbours have amazing gardens full of gorgeous flowers, you can find EVERY kind of flower! Such an inspiration to a painter! ( OMG I love to call myself "a painter"!)
Anyway I took plenty of pictures ..so you will see plenty of poppies!
After the pears now is the poppie's turn :)  BE READY!
This is first one is on a small canvas 25x19 cm, is really cute

 and this is Mona, helping me to find the perfect poppie of course :)

One tomato ...

Not much to say here...is a tomato!:)
Yesterday after finishing with the pears I has still a lot of red left on my palette...so what the best thing to do not to waste that beautiful red color ?

That was my 3rd pear painting and I am happy because I have improved a lot in dealing with colors and shadows and all the rest.
A nice Tuesday, sunny as always, but the heat is becoming a problem with Mona ( you can tell she was not born Italian!) today she struggled to run our usual daily run , Lazy doggie!!

Sunday, half past five in the afternoon...I made it!!! :)
I have to admit...it was a tough Sunday...full of unlucky adventures!!

But  NOW I AM HOME SAFE , and more importantly I also finished my last pear painting, started yesterday.
I am loving it! Is so bright...I am really into pears right now...you ll see more of those, so better you like them too!

Sending hugs and kisses to my hubby, starting his MBA today...he will be working+studying more =I ll be painting more  :)

I am dealing with soar throat and cold , so not doing my best right now and a day of big cleaning is ahead of me!!! Husband is coming the afternoon :) yupppy!!!

Head drawing....goesd BALD!

Good morning everyone!
Midweek today, the weather doesnt look great but lets give the sun some more time! Hopefully it ll show up!
This is my drawing of yesterday....believe it or not but NO hair is more difficult to draw than a lot of hair! :)
I was sitting down, so my view of the model was a bit distorted...anyway put him an helmet and he will look like a German/Russian soldier!!! LOL
Going for a short run now, then taking my favourite painting to frame, then off to drawing class for 3 hours!

Since it was not warm  I painted inside, reason why the whole painting is  a bit dark.
Is dedicated to my husband, that right now is London lovely London!

I painted this bottle last week, today I added few highlights...now is finished!
Sometimes I like to paint still life, they are more relaxing than portraits ( still very challenging though!!!)
My husband left for Berlin yesterday and will be back on Thursday...so plenty of free time for painting this week!!!  So let's how productive I ll be! :)
Unfortunately Michal took the sun away with him...grey and chilly today here in Menlo Park!

Figure drawing , quick poses

Happy Thursday!
The sun is shining here in Menlo Park  (as almost everyday here!!) boring weather :) !!
Just back from my morning run with Mona and feeling great.
The drawings I posted are some of the ones of yesterday figure drawing class. They are done in 2  and 5 min.
I ll not follow this class in the Summer time but I will start again next september, this is the most challenging class I have taken till now. At the beginning was really FRUSTRATING ..I didn t know where to start and what to do. But the secret is not to draw what you see, the model , but to draw what she is doing.
I have still a lot to do!! practice practice practice!!!

Head drawing

This was today's model, her name is Siry. I arrived late and the choice was between drawing while standing or sitting down but doing full front face ...i went for the latter of course :)
Quite a busy day this one, early wake up to take Mona out for a run, then cycle to school and back. In the afternoon Michal adn I went for some house and food shopping, plus swimming.
Just finished cooking and now the choice is between watching tv or ironing....mmmmhhhh I thik I ll watch tv!!!!

Happy Thursday !

Today I decided to paint a red rose, from one of those picture I took last Saturday.
Painting from my OWN picture is so much more fun!!

Now we have a problem!!to many paintings in the house are waiting to get dry, ...on the table, on the floor on the easels ...they are everywhere..surrounded by art!:)
Off to do some food shopping then a nice run with doggie and husband..nice plan:)

2 minute drawing

today in the afternoon I went to my figure drawing class, this is a 2 minute drawing with live model of course !:)

White Rose

Wednesday...not my favourite day of the week..too busy!!!
But luckily enough I had enough time this morning to paint another rose, is a small canvas
20x25 cm and it took me less than an hour. I have to say that I am pretty pleased with myself  still, there is plenty of room for improvement.
practice practice practice!! that s the secret:)

by the way...painting flowers is not as easy as it seems!!!

Red Rose

Last Saturday I went to  photography workshop in a park not far from home . The first thing we were supposed to do was shooting picture of the flowers around.
No need to say that I was already planning my next painting the moment I had the camera in my hands:)
