Tuesday portrait

AS every Tuesday I went to my portrait class, this was the model of today.
I am happy with my work.
We drawing while listening to Frank Sinatra, cool!I was quick so t at 11am I was already at the pool , doing my laps :)
NICE!!!
This afternoon I started working on a new project, a couple portrait...till now is going well! Lets keep fingers crossed!

Hello everyone!
I hope you had a very nice weekend, we did :)

This painting was born as a sort of experiment...
First of all I believe every artist as his own unique way to proceed and to create his own art, of course I have mine!!
This time I have forced my self to go out of "my" way :)
As I wrote sometime ago  I am following an Abstract figure painting class and the whole idea here was to create an abstract painting starting from a picture....I think I create a surrealist painting rather than an abstract one!! And I actually like it this way/
Will do another  more abstract :)

Another day....another portrait !

I am extremely happy with today's portrait, it didnt take me too long and it came just as it was supposed to be. I believe sometimes we have  just a GOOD day, and today was one !

 Off to the garden for few hours of painting now ... not to bad :)

Special blog today ! all dedicated to my number one reader that right now is unfortunately unwell and at the hospital.
When things like this one happens..I hate living so far away !! I would like to jump on the next flight to Italy, but is not always that easy.

Abstract figure drawing from a model

Good evening everyone!
Yesterday I attended my second class of abstract figure painting, it was really exciting!
We had a model posing for us naked for the full time, first the teachee gave us a demonstration, then i it was our turn.
Some sketch with charcoal first than colors :)

I did 2 paintings, my favourite is this one, it was done during one 20 minute sitting.I love the vibrance of the color and the contrast.

This one was done in two 20 min sitting, as you can see there are more details!

It was my very first time painting from a real model, I usually draw...but painting so much fun!!!


I will definitely do more!!

My not so favourite brushes

 Hello everyone! Hope you had a good Wednesday, my was SUPER :)
After almost 2 weeks break I went back to running, I was missing it so much!!!
And it was a perfect start of day of course :)
I had lunch with a friend who shares my same painting-art passion . While talking about still life we agreed that rendering materials, like metal or glass is very difficoult.
Once home I decided to paint something with metal in it OF COURSE!
Here it is : an old Ikea vas older some of my not so favourite brushes in it, in the next picture you can see miss Mona, she just need to be in the picture!!

Head drawing

As every Tuesday I went to portrait class, and this is one is today's model.
You know him already!! I have drawn him a bunch of times already, I remember the first time he was in front of him...when I didnt have a clue how to draw a beard :)

After a cloudy foggy grey morning now the sun is out and is gorgeous outside...off to the garden to do my favourite thing : paint!

Four cherries

is my SMALLEST PAINTING , till now!!! 4x4 inches

Today in the afternoon we cycled  to Stanford shopping center, the three of us of course!! Mona jumped in my basket the moment she was tired of  running :)

Once there I spotted these beautiful cherries at the farmer market and despite the price, I decided to buy them! ( 6 $ per 1 ounce!!!!)
They taste ok and they were perfect for my still life, so it was a worthy purchase :)

 Hello everyone!! here is the portrait I have been working on these last few days, 11x14 inc oil on canvas.
This is the second time i was painting a dog... i loved it!!!!   I love painting dogs as much as I love my own dog! :)
The picture I used was quite dark and it was a bit of struggle ! But in the end I am pretty happy with the result!
Hopefully Antonio e Sabrina like it too! :)

Flowers, hearts and a pink cat!
I worked the canvas to get a lot of texture, it ll be fun to touch once is dried!
 There is A LOT of oil on this one painting, so it 'll take a long time!! ( is so super shiny that I had trouble in taking picture too!)

Figure drawing with red carbothello

Hello everyone!
These are drawing from today's class. The model was same one of last portrait..the one who was falling asleep! Well today it was even worst than that...complaining, yawning , stretching, EVERYTHING but not keeping still...it was tough!!
I hope you like it anyway!
Using the red pencil for this kind of pose was an experiment, first time ever for me, but I like the effect!
The 2 drawings are dedicated to my dear friend Pino,  is nice to put a body to a face, isnt it? :)

Yellow Cat

Good morning!
There are so many cat's lover all around ( first of all my mom!!) that it was about time to paint something cat related!
I painted 3 cats, with this same style, they are all very colorful and sweet!
The canvas is worked in such a way to have a great texture, as you can see in the zoomed picture.
I believe that touching your painting is as important as looking at it!

Going for a walk with Mona now than off to drawing class...to draw some naked models! FUN! :)

 Hello everyone and ...CIAO MAMMA!!!
yes....correct guess! my mom has started reading my blog, and from today she has also a FB account!! wow wow wow! I am speachless! Brava mamma!!
I am so glad she got better with internet...and she will improve her English too! :)

Beautiful sunny day this one, hot but not too hot, just the usual perfect amount of heat ( i am making some Italians jealous on this point!)

My right ankle is not yet ok so no running once again, I am missing it so much!! Hopefully by the end of week I ll be ok.  Mona had 2 long walks, she cannot complain :)

After a break of almost 2 weeks I was back to my favourite thing: head drawing class.

This is today's portrait, I took picture of different steps, hope you will enjoy it!

 This is the drawing I did in the first 20 min of the sitting session, dark and shadows.

 In the second sitting I go darker and I add details

 In the last 20 min I add the white pencil and pay attention to the details.

  I am very pleased with the final result! I especially like the  teeth showing between the lips, if you zoom in the final drawing you can spot them!
She was a nice model...even though she fall asleep twice !! She said she didnt sleep well last night...ok!!!! :)

Me and Mona

First of all SORRY for not having posted anything lately but we went to Mexico for 5 days ( NICE!!!!!!) and yesterday i was too busy cooking for last night BBQ and cleaning and unpacking....and tomorrow we are leaving again, only for a night in San Francisco.
Cant wait to have some peace and quiet and start painting something Mexico inspired!!

This is painting I am posting is one I finished last week, is a big canvas 18x24 inches, and I LOVE IT.
Is my favourite painting till now.

 The picture (BEAUTIFUL!) was taken some time ago by my hubby , he is an amazing photographer :)
