Black, Red and Amy.

Once in while I love early wake up...they make me long at my day ahead in more efficient way .
Woke at 6 am today and put some finishing touches on this last Amy Winehouse.
Here I worked with acrylic, ink, pencil and wax pastel. Plus a collage on her lyrics in the back ground.

Amy Winehouse, from my sketchbook

Listening to Amy Winehouse  and drawing her face...that was my Saturday evening this weekend. With hubby sick and dog asleep.
Yesterday I added some color to it and did a bit of collage with some of her beautiful but quite depressive lyrics (!).
Will probably use this first sketch as an idea for an AAU  project for this semester : designing a cover for the Rolling Stones magazine .

It took me around 3 full days of work....and a lot of patience. 82 layers in here! My record till now :)
Probably it would have taken me much less time painting the full picture on paper but I wanted to have a more finished and professional look, plus my hubby bought for my bday present a really cool tablet... so I had no choice but going digital for this project. :)

Hope you guys like it!

New drawing..maybe a future painting :)?!

Good evening!
After few days of summer, today looks like winter is back! Having a nice hot pasta with (tons of ) parmesan on it  while writing my blog....a small moment of perfection.

What I am posting today is a drawing I finished up yesterday. I am working on 3 illustrations themed around water and fishes, here is my first one.
I will possibly turn it into a painting....hopefully soon!
Also I would like to work it with colors in Illustrator first....
anyway for todays you guys will enjoy the B&W version :)

IN LOVE 6 x6 inches acrylic painting on canvas. Keith Haring tribute.

A couple of days ago I went to see "Keith Haring: the political line" at the De Young museum.
The exhibition creates a narrative that explore Harings's art in response to gay issues, AIDS, racial inequality, the excess of capitalism and other issue.
I left the museum with a new sense of admiration and respect for the work of this artist who died way too young.

Since Valentine is approaching I wanted to paint something Love related and at the same time Keith Haring inspired...so here it is the first one of the series:

Book cover project, part 1. Picking a scene! Alice down the rabbit hole.

One of the project for my "Concept, technique and illustration class" at AAU is making a book cover for a book of our our choice.

I decided to go for a English classic : Alice in the wonderland. Written in 1865 is still very popular with adults as well as children...and is one of my favorite book!

For my book cover I choose to draw a scene from the first chapter,  Alice is running after the white rabbit and she follows him into the hole.

(click on the link if you wish to read the first chapter in full! https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~rgs/alice-I.html  )

Deciding which scene to draw was kind easy, not so much deciding how to portray it, so I went through some sketches, here they are.

And I chose the last one! Now more work on this image! :)

Enjoy today!
